Lead poisoning is a significant risk to bald and golden eagles in North America. Hunters can voluntarily make the switch to lead-free ammo to help protect eagles and other scavengers that feed on gut piles in the field. Our state programs are managed by hunters for hunters. Our goal is to encourage and promote the conservation ethic long associated with hunting in the United States by limiting the unintended lead exposure of scavenging wildlife. With ballistic performance that has been tried and tested at the range and in the field, we encourage hunters to try modern hunting ammunition and see the results for themselves.

Hunters for Eagle Conservation is offering free or reduced cost lead-free ammo or rebates to participating hunters.

We do not support efforts to develop legislative bans limiting a hunter’s choice in ammo selection. Our incentive programs are meant to introduce hunters to the benefits of the voluntary use of modern ammunition.
